da aposte e ganhe: Former Everton assistant manager Steve Round has claimed that Sam Allardyce could lead the Toffees into the Champions League if he took control at Goodison Park.
da heads bet: The Merseyside club are still looking for a new head coach following the departure of Ronald Koeman, and Allardyce has been strongly linked with the position.
The former England boss recently denied that he has held talks with Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, but it is understood that the 63-year-old is very much in consideration.
Round has previously worked under Allardyce at Newcastle United, and the 46-year-old has claimed that the experienced manager would make Everton a regular European team if he took charge of first-team affairs.
Round told Sky Sports:
“I think Everton is a club that he would feel he could take to the top six, maybe even the top four, with the backing and the moving into new stadium.
“It’d be a very, very exciting project for him and I think it would have taken something like that to bring him out of retirement, so to speak.”
Allardyce has been without a job since leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season.
Everton are currently 15th in the Premier League table on 11 points, having recorded a 3-2 win over Watford before the international break.
