da leao: Leeds United supporters will be absolutely buzzing after they moved back into the automatic promotion places on Saturday, but what are the trending threads on the club’s Marching on Together forum?
Pablo Hernandez
Unsurprisingly, many of the fans are still talking about individual players following the dramatic 3-2 win against Milwall at Ellland Road at the weekend, including Pablo Hernandez.
The Spaniard bounced back from the disappointment of missing out on a spot in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season with a goal and an assist against the Lions, taking his tally to 11 goals and 12 assists in 32 league appearances this season.
One fan labelled him as a “modern-day Leeds legend”, while another said that they believe he could play on until he is 40, and that the club look to keep him on as a coach when he eventually retire.
Promotion race emotions
Things have certainly hotted up following the weekend’s results, and in another thread fans are talking about how each other’s nerves are holding up.
In general, there is clearly a real mixed feeling with many obviously feeling the pressure for what it appears to could go down to the wire, while others are still feeling confident that promotion is theirs after such a long time away from the top flight.
After so many disappointments and near-misses, it is no wonder that some are feeling the strain even with the experienced Marcelo Bielsa at the helm.
Steve McClaren sacked
McClaren was dismissed by Queens Park Rangers on Monday following a dreadful run of form in 2019 that culminated in a home defeat to struggling Bolton Wanderers on Saturday, and Leeds fans have been having their say on his departure.
While the replies are clearly poking fun at the former England boss, they must hope that their defeat against the west London outfit in February – which was their only league win from Boxing Day until now – does not prove to be costly come what May.
